What the generator creates
The tool creates a black-on-white QR code from a Google or WhyILike HTTPS link whose hostname passes a local format check. It does not load the destination or verify that the page is a working review form. You must open and test the link yourself. The tool provides:
- A live on-page preview
- PNG downloads at 512, 1024, or 2048 pixels
- A scalable SVG download
- Medium, quartile, or high error-correction choices
- The human-readable destination below the preview
It intentionally does not add a center logo, transparent background, decorative modules, or low-contrast colors. Those choices can reduce scan reliability and should be introduced only with a real print-and-device test process.
Start with the correct review link
A QR code accurately reproduces the data you provide—even when that data is wrong. Before generating:
- Open the review link in a private browser window.
- Confirm the correct public business name and location.
- Verify that the page offers the expected review flow.
- Remove customer-specific information or tracking parameters you do not need.
- Paste the tested HTTPS link into the tool.
If you do not have an owner-provided review link, the free Google review link generator can search Google Maps by business name and location or create a fallback URL pattern from a Place ID. A business lookup sends the search text to WhyILike and Google Maps Platform; the QR-code step on this page remains local in your browser. Test the resulting link on phone and desktop before relying on it.
Choose PNG or SVG
| Format | Best for | Important note |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | Documents, presentations, websites, and office printing | Avoid enlarging a small file after download |
| SVG | Professional print layout and flexible resizing | Keep the complete file intact and do not crop its quiet zone |
For most uses, 1024-pixel PNG is a practical default. Choose 2048 pixels when the raster file will appear larger in print. SVG is resolution-independent, but the final physical size still needs a real scan test.
Error correction explained
QR error correction adds redundancy so a code can sometimes remain readable after minor damage or printing imperfections. More correction also creates a denser code.
- Medium (M) is the clean default for an unobstructed black-and-white code.
- Quartile (Q) adds resilience when the printed environment is less predictable.
- High (H) adds the most redundancy but can create more modules.
Error correction is not permission to cover the code with a logo, crop the white margin, or use poor contrast. Keep the quiet zone and scan-test the finished design.
Print and scan checklist
Do not stop after the on-screen preview works:
- Download the exact file you intend to use.
- Place it in the final design without stretching or cropping.
- Print at final size using the actual printer and material.
- Test at the expected distance and lighting.
- Scan with representative iPhone and Android devices.
- Confirm the correct destination opens each time.
- Repeat the test after lamination, mounting, or resizing.
Keep the visible review URL or business name near the code so staff can identify the destination during routine checks.
Static code versus managed redirect
A QR code contains a fixed string. If it contains a direct Google link, changing the destination requires generating and printing a new code. If it contains an owner-controlled redirect, the owner may be able to change where that redirect points while keeping the printed QR code.
Current WhyILike stands use a managed link that the account owner can edit through a free account. Paid software is optional and is not required for that destination-management function while WhyILike operates.
Keep the review request authentic
The QR code should shorten access to the review destination without steering the customer’s response. Do not place “five-star review,” an incentive, suggested review text, or positive-only language beside it.
Use a neutral invitation:
Share an honest review.
The customer decides whether to post and what to say. Consult Google’s current Business Profile and Maps contribution guidance before changing your process.
Privacy and file safety
This QR-code generator runs locally in the browser. It does not upload the entered URL or generated code to WhyILike, and it does not require customer or business contact details. If you arrived with a link created through the separate business-name lookup, that earlier lookup has the different data handling described on the link-generator page and in the privacy policy; the QR encoding itself still remains in your browser.
Use review links only. Do not encode private customer data, account credentials, medical information, or internal-only URLs. Open the downloaded code yourself before distributing it.
